First and foremost, shopping vintage means we are reusing and recycling clothing already established in our wee world.

Here are just some other 'why's' for shopping vintage...

History – It reflects a certain time and certain place. A trinket in amongst a brands evolution or a keepsake of the past. If the clothing could talk, what stories they'd share!

Nostalgia – it's reintroducing or reliving past trends, memories, dreams. Just like a nice warm sentimental hug.

Creating and shaping identity and individuality - it's a way to express your true self in some soulful, intentional, fantastically made threads.

Quality workmanship and appreciation – impeccable design, material and production - which explains its longevity. And has usually been treated with the upmost care and love by its previous owners.

Unique Features - its beautiful intricacies, practicalities and structure with charming arty labels which are a complete marvel in themselves.

Rarity – and more often than not one of a kind pieces that you won't find anywhere else. A treasure hunt of sorts!

Each beautiful piece has a detailed description attached which notes measurements, brand label description (if available), measurements, material | fabric (if available, otherwise suspected), condition and sometimes it’s history or other weird or wonderful facts that we find.

All collections have been categorized by clothing type and by era. Each era collection features items from this period or estimated (circa) around this period.

Where era or details are unknown, especially if the item is homemade and / or where labels are missing, will I provide a best estimate based off research and identifying features such as clothing label typography, style, material and embellishments.

These beautiful pieces vary from 30 to 60 years old, so it is to be expected that their condition will reflect this with the odd imperfection here and there.

I have done my best to inspect each item and have noted its condition through detailed descriptions and a rating scale.

Most Excellent - Excellent vintage condition i.e. the queen of endurance.

Very Goodly - Very good vintage condition with very minor imperfections i.e. minor pilling, pulls or marks.

Pretty Goodly - Good vintage condition with multiple minor imperfections i.e. missing buttons, holes.

Fair Lady - Fair condition – a diamond in the rough if you will. May need some repair or revival works.

Please note: some items have been fixed or altered to either revive the garment and / or bring them back to tip top shape - shout out to the lovely local clothing alteration ladies for your help with these!

And, on occasion, I have intentionally kept certain imperfections, as I believe it added to their unique character and gave it something extra and cool.

All items have been either carefully handwashed or spot cleaned and air dried. Any residing marks, stains, discoloration will be detailed in the item's condition description.

Care details, which include washing, drying and storing, have not been outlined and will be the responsibility of the purchaser on receipt.

Care labels are still attached to some garments however, we do recommend earing on the side of caution, especially with older garments, and applying delicate handling i.e. handwashing instead of machine washing and drying. Fabric degrades over time with its usage and cleaning so delicate handling and care is, in most cases, necessary to optimize and maximize its lifespan.

Different types of fabric require their own unique care. We do recommend referring to reputable resources, dry-cleaners or collectors | preservers specializing in vintage clothing to understand the optimal approach to caring for your item, particularly for older delicate items.

There are some great online and paperback resources covering vintage clothing, care and storage.

Vintage sizing varies considerably. For this reason, all items are measured flat and provided in centimeters (cm's). Double each flat lay measurement (i.e. waist, hips, underarm to underarm) for the full circumference.

Each item also has a 'best fit' described based on standard NZ sizing. Note - These are an estimated best fit. As every body and proportions are unique and beautiful I would highly encourage referring to the measurements listed.

A lot of vintage items were on the smaller side, hence why there will be more smaller pieces, but I have / and will try and cater for a range of different sizes where I can that fit within my vibe and aesthetic.
